Beginning with what others overlook
As a child I was always drawing and noticing things others missed. I redrew the world outside and the one being born inside my head. But the real passion for photography only caught me by the water, when as an angler I needed a way to document our catches.
Yes, my archive holds a respectable number of those slightly bizarre, funny "man holding a fish, looking proud" photos. But that's where it all began. Soon I cared less about the fish and more about the atmosphere around it: the raw aesthetic of the gear, moments of absolute silence, morning coffee by the water, and unfaked friendship in the middle of nature.
Chasing the light
Later it pulled me further into the world. I started travelling, chasing light from viewpoints at sunrise and sunset, and figured out what I wanted from a photograph. Sterile beauty bores me. I want a story. I want images that spark curiosity in you — whether I'm shooting business portraits, glamour and beauty portraits, or a wedding reportage.
Phones don't kill photography — quite the opposite
Everyone shoots on a phone now, and sometimes I hear that's degrading photography. To me it's exactly the opposite. Because anyone can try it today, people are starting to realise just how hard it is to take a good photograph.
The phone boom doesn't take value away from professional photography — on the contrary, it shows people that a good eye, patience and a feel for light can't be replaced by one tap on a screen.
Six specialities, one visual signature
I work across six specialities: weddings, fashion, business portrait, hospitality, glamour and events. Each one has its own specifics, but they share a common visual language — clean form, authentic emotion, timeless craft.
